How to define a corruption in a country?
no any country is free from corruption in some parts, but how to define briefly ‘corruption in a country’? can you explain with examples?
People are granted certain powers and authorities to do their job.
Police = Guns & Badges & Police Cars & Arrest Powers
Taxing Authority = access to your financial records, and power to take some of your money, supposedly as taxes
Emergency Rescue = various resources & conmmunications to save people
When some of these people put their personal weathl, friends, family, above their legal obligations, then they are corrupt.
Examples
There was a natural disaster. Arrangements were made to evacuate ALL the people, in a manner that was in the best interests of getting everyone out safely.
Some government officials used their powers to get THEIR families out, get themselves out, ignore the people they were sworn to protect. Those people were corrupt.
Some medical professionals arranged for the deaths of the patients in their care, then evacuated themselves. Those people were corrupt.
There is a concept known as "profiteering."
This means that in some crisis, instead of doing what we can to help the continuation of society, hellp maximize survivability, some people use their positions of authority or assets to exploit others, charging unreasonable prices for ordinary commodities.
In all of humanity there are people who are weak of character. The difference from nation to nation is whether there is an effort to catch such people & see that they are prosecuted for their crimes.
